The Afterlife Saga series by Stephanie Hudson, is a very unique, addictive, one of a kind series. If I could compare it to anything, it's like a soap opera of the Adams Familly. This book will have you sad, angry, frustrated, betrayed, elated, and feeling loved. This story is about Keira, a 23 yr old from England moving in with her sister and her brother in law to a small town in the United States. Keira has had a rough past and is trying to escape it all by starting anew. Keira's style is unique, its a little casual and little goth, she covers up her beauty, by wearing baggy clothes, her long luxurious hair pint up, and wears arm length gloves everywhere she goes to hide her scars, that go deeper than just the physical, she also has strange nightmares, one can say kind of supernatural and lucid. Keira is happy to be moving in with her sister since they are extremely close and also it is a way to start all over. To get her mind off of everything Keira needs things to do and to resume normal routines. Keira enrolls in a local college and her brother in law Frank hooks her up with a job as a bartender at the most popular club in town called Afterlife, which is owned by the Draven family, they happen to own a big portion of the small town, including being a big contributor for the college Keira is about to attend. While her sister Olivia (Libby) is skeptical about her working at the club because of rumors, Keira is happy to have the opportunity, since she has worked as a barmaid in England, and it brings some kind of normalcy back in her life, doing things she has done before her life turned upside down. Out oneday shopping Keira meets RJ( Rachel) a local with a unique style and great personality that befriends Keira, and from then on, are the very best friends, she invites Keira out to Afterlife before she starts working there, to meet her gang of pals and is smitten with the club. RJ is obsessed with one of the owners of the club who is none other than Dominic Draven, he's rich, tall, dark, and handsome, and also king of the Underworld. The Dravens only come into to town for two weeks out of the year, and it just so happens that they show up early. Keira is curious about the obsession RJ has with Dominic, so of course when he enters the club with his entourage she happily stands like everyone else just to get a glimpse, only to find that she can't really get a good look until he passes her table on the way up to the VIP. Dominic immediately stops and stares at Keira and so does everyone else wondering why he has stopped just to stare, Keira quickly breaks eye contact and is now even more curious about the mysterious man that owns the club, Well time starts to fly by with her working and she starts college and just so happens to be in the same class with Dominic Draven's sister Sophia unbeknownst to Keira, and she ends up defending the Draven on the first day and from then on Sophia makes it her mission to be one of Keira's best friends. Strange things begin to happen to Keira and for a minute its hard for her to seperate her dreams from reality, like she's going crazy. Soon Keira finds out that some of her dreams are reality once Sophia invites her to work in the VIP, a job that no other human has ever done. There Dominic takes notice of Keira, and ends up having to confess his feelings, although it didn't happen as quick as one might think but you catch my drift. Once Keira has commited herself to Dominic she is thrusted into a world of Angels and Demons, and in this world all Angels aren't saints and all Demons ain't bad. In this world Angels and Demons are forbidden to have relationships with humans. But Dominic and Keira's relationship is very unique, because Keira is meant for Dominic, she is the chosen one. While I'm still in the beginning stages of the series, I have yet to find out what Keira's role is in the underworld. This series is very well written and great scene and character development. This book will make a great movie. From the everyday drama of Keira to her drama with Dominic and the underworld. I love her passionate and heated relationship with Dominic, it shows what great lengths they will to go for each other. Stephanie sure doesn't hold back with the descriptions with the scenery. It feels as if your actually there. Well I can't wait to get more in depth with the series. I just finished the 2nd book and let me tell you, it is very addictive. It has you holdilng on to the edge of your seat, not wanting to put it down, I would definitely go to the movies to see this one. We need more adult paranormal movies in the theaters anyway. Way to go Stephanie! I'm letting everyone know this is proof that J. K. Rowling is not the only English woman that can write great books and it get turned in to a movie sensation. If you just take one glimpse into the Afterlife you will find that this deserves the equal opportunity too.
